Foundation…..the most important element in a makeup routine.

Apart from the prepping stage of makeup – moisturiser/primer, the foundation in my eyes is what you should solely concentrate on for the perfect little face.

I was a firm believer that you should go for high street products for things such as mascara or eyeshadow, but when it comes to foundation you should not skimp and scrape.

This has changed…..MASSIVELY.

Don’t get me wrong, I still have my Dior, YSL and Chanel foundation, but they don’t seem to be getting used as much as…… Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Make Up Foundation.

Literally, this has got to be the best foundation I have ever used since I started wearing foundation at 15/16 years old and costs only £8.99 at Superdrug.

The things I want in a foundation are;

dewiness – check!

x long-lasting – check!

x full coverage yet not a cakey look – check!

x a great colour match – check!

easy to apply – check!

When it comes to the base for makeup I often don’t only use one foundation or one concealer, I mix it up with brands and types of application. I start with my daily skin care routine and chose a favourite primer, I let this soak while I go and dampen my beauty blender. I usually only use about one and a half pumps of the Rimmel foundation onto the back of my hand (you really don’t need a lot) and start to blend all over my face till it’s evened out and blended nicely into my hairline and down my neck etc. I then take the Maybelline Eye eraser and draw a fan shape from the inner corner of my eye outwards towards my cheek, this concealer has a sponge applicator, which might not be the most hygienic application HOWEVER it does apply so easily.

After that is all blended in well and I am happy, I usually get on with filling in my eyebrows and applying any eyeshadow I am feeling that day.

I then like to add a tiny bit more concealer, for this I use the L.A Girl Pro Concealer I do one curved line from the inner corner eye all the way around to the outer end of my eyebrow and almost flick it at the end, and then almost representing pussycat whiskers on my cheeks, and use my trusty blender to smooth into all the right place. And then do the finishing touches aka – bronzer, blush, highlighter, mascara and lipstick.

If I add the following together;

Rimmel Wake Up Make Up Foundation £8.99

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer  £8.99

L.A Girl Pro Concealer £5,00

= £22.98

That’s pretty cheaparooo for a full face foundation and two concealers and I swear by all three!

On a side note:

The only problem is that there seems to be nowhere in England that sells L.A Girl, I originally bought my concealer from eBay, but I discovered a site called beauty bay that has a lot of the collection, HOWEVER when reading the reviews they seemed to be very mixed, from ‘OMG this site is amazing’ to a hell-a-lot of reviews over and over again claiming that they are awful for delivery, with some buyers complaining about having no delivery of items at all, and when trying to get it solved beauty bay seem to cut all ties and not sort the problem out. Which obviously sparks alarm bells. Although I can’t count for this as I haven’t had a personal experience. But you’d be sure to hear about it if I do haha.

  1. This foundation actually sounds quite lovely! I’ve never tried Rimmel foundation or any foundation before for that matter. I usually only use concealer. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Till this foundation came out I’ve never used Rimmel for anything! I usually stick to my YSL or Dior, but I am so presently surprised with this foundation, it’s definitely my favourite – I can’t believe that.

    1. That’s so annoying! I feel your pain as there’s a lot of makeup you have in America that I can’t find here 😦 we dont even have Sephora here!!!!
